SOLAR IMPULSE AT THE AIX-EN-PROVENCE ECONOMIC MEETINGS

Presentation of a previously unpublished “best of » video of the “key steps” of the great Solar Impulse adventure about to complete its around-the-world tour with 0 fuel, a first in the world. At the dawn of Solar Impulse II’s takeoff for Egypt, the penultimate stage before Abu Dhabi, its final destination, Jean-Pierre Clamadieu (Chairman of the Executive Committee, member of the board of Directors and CEO of the Solvay Group) and Bertrand Piccard (Creator, founder and pilot of Solar Impulse) spoke of this incredible challenge during the Economic Meetings of Aix-en-Provence.

At the origin of the Solar Impulse project, there arer two Swiss pilots, Dr. Bertrand Piccard, psychiatrist and André Borschberg, Engineer (Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne). Their idea: to build, then fly, without fuel or polluting emissions, day and night, a single-seater airplane with electric motors powered solely by solar energy. The objective: to fly around the world in autonomy.
