Cité des sciences et de l’industrie
SOLAR IMPULSE EXHIBITION
March 2015, Cité des Sciences et de l’Industrie, Paris.
As Solar Impulse 2 travels around the world, Solar Impulse 1 is retiring in the air too, but indoor: the world’s first solar airplane is suspended above the thousands of daily visitors in the Cité des Sciences et de l’Industrie for an indefinite period of time. With the wingspan of a large airliner (63 m), the weight of a car (1600 kg), the power and speed of a two-wheeler (70 km/h), the Solar Impulse flew over the oceans without a drop of fuel.
Future is clean!
In order to share the incredible challenge with visitors, we have developed multimedia museum modules and a Kinect flight simulator game for all audiences. A fun and educational way to discover all the new technologies developed in partnership with Solvay.
The scenography modules were designed with the Agence NC.
Solvay & Solar Impulse
Solvay has been the main partner of the solar airplane since the project began in 2004 and since 2014 the proud owner of Solar Impulse 1. The chemical group has played an active role in this adventure by making its scientific skills & expertise available. Many of the challenges encountered by the project relate to areas of research & development in which Solvay is involved, such as renewable energies and sustainable mobility.
